Weapons

Archery hunters should practice up to 50-60 yards and compound bows must be a 40 lb. draw weight or higher. Muzzle loader hunting weapons should be sighted in at 100 yards with open sights or a 1-power scope. Rifles must be center-fire and should be sighted in "dead on" at 200 yards. Some of the most popular hunting rifles for antelope include .22-250, .243, and .25-06. For deer it is common to use a .25-06, .270, .280, .30-06, or 7mm. A good elk hunting rifle would be a .300 mag or larger. Be sure and ask if you have any questions concerning your hunting weapon and the animal you will be hunting. Knowing your hunting weapon and putting in the proper practice time will greatly help your chances of harvesting a trophy animal on your guided hunt.

High Mountain Outfitters Hunting Policies
  • 50% deposit is due at the time of booking. Remaining 50% is due 30 days prior to scheduled hunt. If the payment schedule is not followed, it will be assumed the reservation is cancelled.
  • Written notice, received 30 days prior to scheduled hunt, is required on a hunt re-schedule or cancellation in order for High Mountain Outfitters to book another hunter. We want to work with clients as much as possible but must protect ourselves as well. In the case of a cancellation with proper 30 day written notice, half of the 50% deposit will be refunded.
  • A hunt is not considered "booked" until the 50% deposit, signed liability waiver, and signed contract are in the possession of High Mountain Outfitters. (Liability waiver and contract will be provided upon the request of a hunt)
  • Payment must be in the form of a personal check, cash, or cashier's check.
